What if I do not want to live in the house? Can I transfer the house to someone else or sell the house?

There is no restriction on selling the home immediately after taking possession if that is your preference. Since the home is a lottery prize, there is no capital gains tax on the sale of the house unless you sell it for more than its market value at the time of the draw date. You may want to consult your accountant for tax implications if you sell it for more than the market value at the time of the draw. You can also transfer the ownership of the home to someone else.

What are the odds of winning?

The odds of winning are approximately 1 in 16. The odds of winning depend on the number of tickets sold. All inquiries, if any, on the odds of winning, are to be made to the CHEO Foundation prior to ordering ticket(s). By ordering the ticket, you are agreeing to these odds.

How old do I have to be to order a ticket?

You must be 18 years of age or older to order a ticket. Tickets may not be ordered in the name of a minor.

Can I order a ticket if I do not live in Ontario?

Anyone over age of 18 can order a ticket however you must be in Ontario when the ticket order is made online or by phone. It is also important to note that AGCO rules prohibit mailing tickets outside the province of Ontario. How many names can I put on each ticket of a 3-pack? Why can they not be in separate names?

3-pack tickets must be issued to the same person (same name and address). A maximum of three names can appear on the tickets and each name will appear on all three tickets. The name(s) of all buyers must be on the original order form. The tickets issued will match the original order form.

Can I order a 3-pack of tickets as gift?

If the 3-pack of tickets was ordered as a gift, the purchaser’s name and address will be listed on each ticket as the purchaser. Once the purchaser receives the tickets, they can decide who will receive the ticket as a gift. Remember: if one of the three tickets should win, it will have the purchaser’s name and not the name of the person to whom it was given as a gift. All three tickets will be issued in sequential order – no exceptions.

Having the purchaser’s name on all three tickets indicates who is legally responsible for the tickets and helps to ensure a clear audit trail of how many tickets have been sold.

It is up to the purchaser’s discretion to transfer any prizes won to the person(s) to whom they gave the ticket(s). The CHEO Foundation, Miratel Solutions Inc. and MNP LLP are not responsible for any disputes arising from a failure or refusal to transfer winnings and prizes, nor will they mediate or negotiate any settlement should a conflict arise.

Are group orders allowed?

A maximum of three names can appear on the ticket.
